Dear Fellow Drug Court Practitioner and Interested
Persons:
We invite you to join or renew your
membership with the Florida Association of Drug Court
Professionals (FADCP). We are initiating our membership
drive through e-mail again this year to streamline the
process and conserve funds.
We welcomed our new Board of Directors at
FADCP’s annual meeting in National Harbor, MD on July 20th.
Our new Board of Directors brings enthusiasm, creativity and
a wealth of expertise and dedication. Our newest board
member is Dorrie Tyng, drug court coordinator, 15th
Judicial Circuit. Ms. Tyng brings 25 years of experience in
the criminal justice system and has served as the
coordinator of Palm Beach County’s Drug Court since its
inception in 2000. As you know, the FADCP Board is made up
of volunteers who serve our membership and fulfill our
statutory responsibilities.
The FADCP continues to advocate in
support of important legislation that will give drug courts
a mechanism to help adequately fund program operations. We
will explore the feasibility of coordinating a statewide
drug court training conference. The FADCP is involved with
the Office of the State Courts Administrator as they manage
the drug court expansion project which has made substantial
progress. The FADCP is addressing judicial education needs
related to substance abuse, developing guidelines for ex
parte communication, and assisting counties wishing to
implement Veterans’ Treatment Courts. Once again, the
FADCP’s National Drug Court Month Celebration Committee will
explore initiatives to showcase Florida’s drug courts at the
state and national level.
Attached is the 2011-2012 FADCP
membership application (organizational and individual). The
FADCP Tax ID # is 65-1140643 and is located at
the top of the form. The FADCP complies with the public
record criteria of Section 119.01 (3), Florida Statutes.
Florida Statute 397.334 created the FADCP,
"whose duty is to solicit recommendations from members on
issues relating to the expansion, operation, and
institutionalization of treatment based drug court
programs." As an FADCP member, you will receive legislative
alerts and our newsletter
